At Wittenberg they were listened to with surprising consideration. Melanchthon and Amsdorf were un- prepared to withstand them, and were much per- plexed. An earnest appeal was made to the Elector 1522] The Zwickau Prophets 213 that Luther be sent for, as he only was able to deal with the difficult questions that were thus raised.
