Parks are a necessity now, and will be a still greater necessity in the future.
Our city is yet in its infancy. From its first settlement, upwards of two hundred years ago, it has grown up without any system. Streets and lanes have been laid out to suit the con- venience of the parties for the time being, without any regard for future growth, and this system has been continued, with few exceptions, to the present time.
