All troops were here; the road was open to Morehead, North Carolina. Marched i^ miles; total 41 7 miles from Beaufort. The army met the loth and 2^d Corps here, wheiewe were all concentrated.
The army desolated a swath about 450 miles long, and on an average about 40 miles wide.
