It being about meal-time, I found several of the men home from their work and at dinner, which consisted, as far as I could see, of nothing whatever but potatoes tumbled on the table in their skins.
In a somewhat superior cottage, with a loft over one end, 1 found the proprietress herself, who had just arrived from the town to look at her property.
