The trouble with our imperialistic friends is that they can not understand that conscience, patriotism, or love of liberty can exist in other men. If they would but put themselves in the place of the Filipinos; if they would but apply the golden rule to the relations between this country and this people this people of the Eastern Hemisphere, from which the golden rule came in the beginning.
