Whether their opinions were in reality mod erate, whether they accepted the extreme views of the power of the Pope over the English gov ernment, or whether they would have favored an attempt by the kings of France and Spain to inflidl Catholicism on England by force, are interesting questions which have been discussed at times, but which cannot be answered, for the Baltimores expressed no opinions and made no arguments.
