This group or " pair, " before the auction takes place on the ''public survey day, '' carefully inspect the parts of the mine to be dealt with, and are fully competent — probably more com- petent than their employer or his agent — to judge as to the comparative richness of the ground and as to all other matters necessary to enable them to know how much the job will yield to them.
