Yet Paul was not a very irrational kind of a man. He was not a dreamy idealist who knew nothing about real life. But Paul was a rich man if we may trust him to tell us what he thought of himself. He had nothing, yet he pos- sessed all things. He was poor, yet he made many rich. He was able to glory in tribulations and could rejoice in suffer- ing, and appeared to think that he was most favored of men in being able to do just these very things. Modern cynical mammonism, I dare say, thinks that Paul was a fool.
