/Feb. 1979 magazine. I really enjoyed the picture, but I thought the story could have done more with the porcupine's personality. If Mr. Walcheck would like to meet a real character, we would share our friend Edgar.
Edgar is a small porcupine who arrived at our window three winters ago and stood on the Hower box alongside the tom cat and scratched for food. So, our son fed the cat milk and offered Edgar an apple. Now, three winters later, Edgar is still coming and asking for food. He now eats o...atmeal and apples.
We go to the door and call him by name and he comes to the door, takes the apple from our hands and looks at the bowl of oatmeal. If this isn't enough to fill him up, he comes to the window and asks for more. We haven't picked Edgar up, but my son has patted him on the head.
