Even though Daphnia is affected now, any effects on kokanee might not be seen for another two to four years. The reason for this is that the very young fry are probably the most seriously affected by Mysis. They probably depend more on the slow-swimming Daphnia than do older flsh. If these young fish don't survive because of an insufficient food supply, the fisherman will not notice it until the older fish die after spawning and no young ones grow to maturity to take their places.
