22 Readers Respond Memories of Merriams The article by Brian Giddings in the March/ April issue brought back a bunch of memories as I read about the evolu- tion of the Merriam's turkey. I was the ranger on the Sioux District when the first season on the Montana turkey was held (1958).
But to go back a few years, I was also the ranger at the Malta LU District in 1957 when turkeys were planted at Sippery Ann Creek.
