Well, the news from Helena is really great— never thought it would happen but I see that you Montanans have decided to go ahead and build the Colstrip power plant. All that talk really had us worried out here in Seattle but you people came through in fine style.
It's good to know that people really do care. And anyway — Montana's such a big state you won't even notice the stripping (actually I've never thought stripping would do much to change all that dry, brown, scrubby country anyway); and 8...,000 gallons of water a minute — why that water's just going to waste now — might as well do something with it.
You'll really have something when it's all finished — 700 megawatts of power and jobs for 118 people— who ever would have thought 118 people could do all that — might even take less in a few years.
Sure there may be some long-term ef- fects but they'll be "subtle"— like in the air — and aesthetics, and flora, and fau- na—well, we sure are glad you folks didn't get confused by all those big words.
