The death rate increases with age. Under 35 years, there is no very appreciable incidence of the condition. Between ages ten and fourteen, a rate of 3.4 deaths per 100,000 persons living is the first indication of a significant distribution in the population of the disease in its malignant form. Between 25 and 34 years, the rate, 5.4, accentuates the earlier finding. Beyond 35 years, there is a rapid rise in the slope of the curve for diabetes.
