First I addressed the ball with my spoon, and then 112 MY GOLFING KEMINISCENCES changed my mind and took a longer club to get as near the bunker as possible. The result of the shot was disastrous, as I cut across it, and it pitched right into a little bunker... beside the " Field " green. I saw the sand fly up. When I arrived on the scene I found fortune on my side, as the ball had pitched in the bunker, and in so doing had thrown up a little mound of sand on which the ball was perched, the only difficulty being that there was a bank in front of me. I decided, how- ever, to go for it, and taking my spoon I played for a hook, brought the shot off and holed out in five. A very useful two fol- lowed at the next hole, and a four was quite satisfactory at the fifth hole.
