The invitation sent to the papers offered "every fac...ility for making sketches or notes before, during, and after the procession. " First we sat down to a substantial meal, surrounded by the pomp of the great travelling circus. It was there intimated that all who cared were welcome to take part in the procession. A few held back, the majority readily accepted. The show was of wondrous diversity. " St. George and his Seven Champions " were succeeded by Richard the Third and Queen Elizabeth. From Egypt came the Khalifa with gunboats of the Nile, a triumphal car represented India and its Nobles, while others were devoted to the Colonies.
