Many parts of it at present are rather bare; but in the rainy season it is under water, and then, later, full of long grass. The river is from 30 to 40 feet wide, and in some places very deep. It has in it plenty of fish, a good many croks, and a few hippo. It could be easily utilised for garden purposes by means of a wind-mill pump. We also walked round the garden.
