To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:

This inhibition by drainage is, in the sphere of consciousness, inhibition by withdrawal of attention ; we know well that if our attention is withdrawn from anything we are doing, then we do that thing with very much reduced intensity or not at all.
