Clewett, and Henry Jackson. The only persons present in the convention from the west of the Mississippi were Henry H. Sibley and Franklin Steele. At a special election at Stillwater in October, Henry H. Sibley was chosen dele- gate to Washington, and on the 15th of January, 1849 he took his seat in the United States House of Representatives.
