Furthermore, Dr. Hibbard was extremely interested in this question and was self-sacrificing... enough not only to be the subject of the experiment, but also to take minute notes of the progress of the experiment and to have the affected parts photographed twice.
The following extract is taken from his notes: " 1894, October 13, 5 P. M. On the anterior surface of the left fore- arm, three inches from the wrist, some of the oil extracted from Rhus venenata was placed with a glass rod. The forearm was then wrapped with absorbent cotton and bandaged.
11 P. M. Left forearm had a very slight burning sensation.
