The joints at the lower surface must next be drawn upon the plan, as shown by the dotted lines, due regard being had to the ornamental details which are to be subsequently added. These joints are either radial or circular, from the nature of fan vaulting. From the centre of curvature of c d draw the arch joints n m, q p, s r, intersecting their outer curve at m, p, and r ; and through these points draw vertical lines m t, p v, r w, also projecting the same points downwards to the plan at m, p, and r.
