In Irish, this is part of the story of Maelduin. There are four Norwegian examples, five Faroese, two or three Danish.
Child Sigurd (Sigur svein) goes to the playing-field where the King's small boys are playing at the ball, and he plays them to rights; he struck one under the ear so that they laughed at him. Sigurd struck with the ball (he was stout of growth), sore hurt were the King's boys, and the blood springs out on the earth.
