They ha...ve been described by Saengei*, of Leipzig, under the name " c o n g 1 u t i - natio labiorum" ( Centralb. F. Gijn . , 1891, No. 50), and by Bokai as "epithelial union of the lal)ia. " They are usually found in small children and appear to be either congenital or to result from inflam- mation, with destruction of the epithelium, followed by adhesion. Four cases of the affection have come under my notice, the youngest a little girl twenty months old, and the oldest one of six years ; the difti- culty was first discovered by the mother in each instance.
