And he it further enacted hy the authority aforesaid, That every officer or agent receiving moneys give bond!" ° for the city, and payable to the City Treasurer, shall give bond for the faithful performance of his duty, and shall be required to make return to the City Controller once in every week, or oftener, if Councils shall direct, under oath or affirmation, of each item of the moneys received by him, Make returns and immediately upon making such return, to pay the teoiie^*^ und^r amount in his hands to the City Treasurer.
