The victory of Tippecanoe was justly deemed of the greatest impor- tance to the country. If Harrison had been beaten, the triumphant bands of the Prophet, reinforced by other tribes recruited to his stan- n dard by the influence of Tecumthe, would have poured upon the settle- ments, tomahawk in hand, consigning the whole frontier to massacre and conflagration.
