Under the last-named head we find two very interesting ex- tracts—one from Dante's dedicatory letter to Can Grande della Scala,and the other from a commentary (still in manuscript when Ozanam wrote) by G-iacopo di Dante, Dante's son — both explain- ing the inner meaning intended under the external symbols.
