What reading level is Paris in Eighteen Hundred And Two And Eighteen Hundred And Fourteen book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:

No property was of value except landed property. Every body p 4 216 anticipated disastrous tidings ; but it was dangerous to give utterance to doubts or fears. The police agents were a perpetual object of dread, and each individual was in awe of his neighbour. Speaking of the horrors of the conscrip- tion, he said he had a son of twenty years of age, who had been ballotted and ordered to join his regiment as a private soldier. Unwilling to part with him, he had paid three himdred pounds sterlin...g for a substitute. At the end of three months a fresh summons arrived for his son, in consequence of the substitute's having been killed in battle. A second substitute was procured, and six months after that, the young man was again de- manded, as this second substitute had deserted. Rendered desperate by these repeated acts of oppression, he sent his son out of the kingdom ; and was hap- pily relieved from his responsibility for so doing by the late successes of the Allies. Who will wonder at the fall of a throne supported by such a system as this ?
