" The Journal of the Institute in this connection says: "Other at...- tempts had been made to standardize threads for screws but William Sellers was the first to devise a set of proportions and reduce them to formulse so that the proper size, shape and pitch for a given diameter of screw can be deter- mined without comparison with a predetermined list. The angle and the trun- cated form of screw thread proposed by Mr. Sellers, which became the standard for the United States, were adopted by the International Congress for 'L'Unifi- cation Des Filetages et des Gauges, ' held at Zurich, in October, 1901.
