The Use of Figures. 105 It will be observed that the difficulty to be overcome in taking down a letter containing figures such as the above is not only the transition from shorthand to figures and vice versa, but also of getting over the habit of abbreviating for the expression of round numbers clashing with the necessity for writing odd sums in full.
