— If Vi and V2 are the potentials of two points A and B on a conductor, then by Ohm's law It is obvious from this equation that the potential differ- ence between any two points on a conductor through which a constant current is flowing is proportional to the resistance between them, provided the conductor is not the seat of an E.M.F. Even when electromotive forces are encountered, the loss of potential, when a given cur- rent flows through a resistance, is proportional to that resistance.
