...r. , and Tillie Winkler, were natives of Germany, from, which country they emigrated to America in 1852, settling in Westmoreland County, Pa. , where they breathed their last. They had a family of three sons and two daughters, of whom our subject was the fourth child and third son. He was born in Germany, Dec. 12, 1842, and was con- sequently about ten years of age when he came to America. He grew to manhood in Westmoreland County, making that county his home until his re- moval to Kansas, May 6, 1878.
