Her father, David Trout, was, it is thought, born in Germany. He was a cooper by trade, and spent his last days in Augusta County, Va. The maiden name of his wife was Susan Whitsill. There were eleven children born to the parents of our subject, eight of whom grew to maturity, of whom the fol- lowing is recorded : Sarah Ann married Samuel Swisher, and died in Pettis Count}', Mo.
