The tops of more elaborate vessels, of which the form of the body is derived from the gourd, are shown in plate vin, b, c, d, and in fig- ure 26. These sherds may be described as belonging to the double- gourd type of vessels, the body of the jar representing one gourd, while the top simulates a smaller gourd superimposed on the larger one.
