Instead of that, we are now sure that it has a thickness of at least 500 feet, and very likely a maximum thickness of 600 feet. The *'Salina Group,** as it now appears, is to be absorbed in it and must disappear from the scale, so far as any series in Ohio geology having a distinct boundary is con- cerned. The plaster beds of Gypsum and of the islands of Lake Erie, which have been heritofot^ referred to the Salina Group, be- long at about the middle of this great series.
