I remember he came to breakfast with me after one of these walks. The only other person present was the late Sir Alexander Grant. When breakfast was over, Grant, putting on his gown, said, ' I must go to Jowett's lecture, but I have had one from you, Shairp, already, on the Parmenides;' and, indeed, Shairp had talked of little else.
