Again, that prim figure of Garrick, which postures in West- minster Abbey, might well shudder as he would be told that now-a-days a play is interrupted, while an audience actually encores five times the reading of a letter. All this is the worse now, on account of what may follow ; and in ordinary life we know what the beginnings of an undue famili- arity usually lead to.
