To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:

— It appears to me that the real issue involved in this discus- sion, so far as we as pharmacists are concerned, is not whether there is a ne- cessity for a revision, because that is certainly admitted. All that Dr. Squibb has said in relation to it is entirely correct, but he comes before us with a proposition that may not probably be just what pharmacists would like it to be,^ and which probably does not represent, in their opinion, the standing and dignity they should take in this matter. We... should not lose sight in thia discussion of the remarks and resolutions offered by Prof. Judge, which, in my opinion, bring forward the true issue, that is, what is to be the proper status of the pharmacists. In accepting Dr. Squibb 's suggestion are we sub- ordinate, or, in other words, a special branch of the medical profession, giv- ing them the authority to call upon us as a collateral branch of thefr profes- sion for assistance, and which, by the way, they have not done. The resolu- tion offered does not suggest that they have done anything of the kind, but intimates that we shall tender our services to them.
