Mr. Franklin Peale died at Philadelphia on the 5th of May last, at the age of seventy-four years. He was an officer of the American Philosophical Society and a contributor to their Proceedings. For many years he held office in the United States Mint, and made very important improve- ments in its mechanical processes.
