The same Mayor of Chicago who just gave such excellent service in stopping the street car strike, was reported in Engineering News of almost the same date to have said ''We are glad to have lots of water and waste it, for it makes Chicago a cleaner and healthier city.'' Unfortunately there is no hope that the editorial of Engineer- ing News on the utterance will be read by the citizens who con- trol the mayor who controls Chicago's engineers.
