The seventy-two volumes of manuscripts reported at the last annual meeting as bound, have been i-eceived from the bindery, and are deposited, under lock and key, in the south-west ante-room of our library. They there wait
... a suitable case for permanent safety, which will probably, at an early day, be provided, when they will be made accessible, under such regulations as the Society shall prescribe, to all who may wish to consult them. Many of these manuscripts are of great value, revealing, as they do, the spirit and habits of early times in the Rhode Island Colony, no less than the perplexities and difficulties with which its settlement and civil organism were environed. A large number of manuscripts remain to be collated, classified and bound in volumes.
