A large portion of this decrease was ac- counted for by the continued closure of the Montana Resources copper mine. Big Horn County also lost about 350 jobs. The layoffs of Crow tribal employees were the basic reason for the decline. These layoffs were also reported in the press. Other counties declined by 50 or less jobs for 2001.
