45. Minor Purmort bom September 30, 1799, died October 17, 1854. It appears that during a part of his minority he made his home with Richard Purmort No. 16, the good man, who did so much for other people's children. When he married at the age of 20 he took possession of the old Jay homestead, buying out the other heirs and taking in the old folks to give them a home... during life. He began at once to improve the old place. He built the stone house that still stands firm as the day it was finished. He quarried out the rock from the moun- tain side and shot them down an incline and then carted then to the building spot. He built barns and sheds and made new fences till the place was in the very best shape. Here five of his children were born, and here he for twelve years lived in peace and great prosperity.
