Because of his extensive Cretan studies, Doctor McKenzie was specially fitted to excavate in Philistine territory, because Philis- tines and Cretans were both of the same old Greek stock ; but before the city could be opened to view the money gave out, and the Palestine Exploration Fund had to stop the work.
