EDMUND STRETE: Monday, Feb. 19, 1386. It- came to pass on Monday before the feast of S. Peter in Cathedra, of Ric. II. , that Thomas Dene, of Longcombe, found Edmund Strete, clerk, dead within the close of Great University Hall, in a chamber in the parish of St. Mary-the-Virgin. The same day an inquest was held. The jury say that John West, of Lantony, near Gloucester, servant of the said Edmund, slew liim on Wednesday before the feast of St. HiUary, and hid him in the straw of his bed until the said Monday.
