If he is still unable to sight correctly, the first exercise will be repeated. Soldiers sometimes will be found who do not know how to place the eye in the line of sight ; they often look over or along one side of the notch of the rear sight and believe that they are aiming through the notch because they see it at the same time that they do the front sight. This error will probably be made evident by the preceding exercise. Some men in sight- ing will look at the front sight and not at the obje...ct. As this often occasions a blur, which prevents the ob- ject from being seen distinctly and increases both the difficulties and inaccuracies of sighting, it should be corrected.
