...ssesses no falls or obstructions of any kind, and there is none in Clarke Fork until near Lake Pend d'Oreille.t Not far above Lake Pend d'Oreille, in Clarke Fork proper, and near a station on the Northern Pacific called Thompson Falls, are some small rapids which are no more serious than are those iu Flathead River. This is according to Dr. Gorham and Mr. Woolman. We did not deem it necessary to revisit these two places, as Dr. Gorham's notes and the information which we gained through conversations with a number of persons who were familiar with that part of the river convinced us that there are no obstructions of any importance above Lake Pend d'Oreille.
