Gunton offered the following resolution, which was adopted : Resolved, That the annual report of the president now present- ed, with any pape-s accompanying thesame, and tire general admin- istration of the company for the past year, be referred to a com- mittee of seven, to be chosen by the chair, in which the State of Maryland, the United States, the State of Virginia, and the cor- porations of Washington, Alexandria an-d Georgetown shall be represented, as well as the individual stockholders...; the said com- mittee to report to the next meeting of the stockholders.
The chair appointed the following named gentlemen t:) consti- tute the committee — Messrs. S. Sprigg, Gunton, Mason, Johnson, Cazenove, Clement Cox and R. S. Coxe.
8 Mr. Clement Cox presented a written report from the commit- tee appointt'd on the seventh instant, accompanied by the follow- ing resolution, which was read and adopted: Resolved, That the president and directors be and they are h':reby instructed to resist the charge of $27.,976,53, for acceptances, or any other like charge, in the account rendered to them by the trustees for the redemption of scrip, and to insist on a strict and faithful account on the part of said trustees, according to the le- gal rights of the company and its assij^ns.
