Twice I have been bitten by dogs, and the stormy weather so near the lake has been very much against me. Once I have been stuck fast in a snow-drift, and had to clear the way for near two miles, and then had to put up at a farm-house for two days before I could get to my lodgings with safety.
" March 31st, 1882. In reference to my work you will see I have given away four Bibles this month. One was to a poor woman sick in bed and a lot of little children, but without a Bible. I gave her one, and... with tears of gratitude she received it, and said, Now I shall have a Bible to read to my children. " Another was a poor man who was sick, and very likely sick unto death. He had a Bible, but the print was too small for either him or his wife to read it. Generally the people are pleased to have the Word of God so cheap, brought to their verv doors. " JAMES NESS. " January 3ist, 1882. This being the first work that I have done as a Colporteur, I am not in a position to say whether it has been a success or not.
