The dominant epidote forms irregular polygonal crystals in bands which contain no other mineral except a few grains of sphene and rarely zircon, but occasionally open out round nests of felspar. Of the camping ground known as Misa, some 12 miles from Moyale on the Abyssinian frontier, is a dark rock of close texture consisting of very pale pink garnets (in a thin section) and light browm hornblende in approximately equal proportions.
