Isaac Bigelow commenced new on the farm now owned by J. P. Long, building a log house and barn on the spot where the new house is built at the forks of the road. Mr. Bigelow built a small house south-west from the Chase factory, and then sold out to Israel Batchelder, emigrating to Granville, Ohio. Israel Batcheldt i came to town in 1809, and lived on his farm until he died in 1858, ^Rcd 77 years. This farm was mostly covered with liartl wood timber, the soil was strong and very productive when first cleared. He built the large two-story house in 1816.
