He got two narrowboards, which were once pickets belonging to a picket fence, one end ofeach was sharp, so that it could be driven down into the ground. After having got every thing ready, the boys waited till the eveningbefore fixing up the dial, because they could not see the North Star inthe day time. But when the evening came, they went out, and began theirpreparations. It was a clear and pretty cold evening, and the stars wereout in thousands.
